Did you know that when you are in the hospital as a patient and you see your own personal physician in the halls he is not allowed to come in your room unless you request? I did not either but that is what I found out when I saw my primary care doctor in the halls on the third night post-surgery. I asked him to come in because I was not feeling all that great. They gave me a blood transfusion earlier in the day but that was not the problem. I felt like I was developing bronchitis or pneumonia.

He had asked about the surgery and how I was doing but I told him I felt crackly in the bottom of my right lung and I was coughing.

Rotavirus vaccine proves highly effective in reducing gastroenteritis in children

A report, published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases, by the Centres of Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, shows that routine vaccination against rotavirus is hugely effective in reducing the number of children hospitalised by virus. The study, which focussed on three US counties, saw dramatic decreases in the number of children being admitted to hospital since routine vaccination was introduced for younger children in the United States in 2006.

Focussing on the period between 2006 to 2009, researchers looked at statistics from hospitals in Cincinnati, Ohio, Nashville, Tennessee and Rochester, New York, and saw a clear reduction in the number of children treated for gastroenteritis due to rotavirus in 2008 compared with 2006 when the immunisation programme had just begun.

Daniel Payne, the study’s author said: “Our data confirm that the introduction of rotavirus vaccination among US children has dramatically decreased hospitalisation rates.

In fact Memory and Concentration is not only an issue for students but pretty much anyone in the modern world especially those with jobs that require deep focus and a sharp mind.

Sadly with modern lifestyles more and more people are suffering from poor memory, concentration and a generally foggy mind from time to time.
